Now let us introduce our first guest blogger and fellow Texan, Grace McGuire!
She is a mom, wife, student, and blogger! On her way to becoming a Holistic Nutritionist she blogs about eating whole foods and what she's learning on her journey. We hope you enjoy her story and recipe for spicing up our delicious Guiltless Goodies Cake Donut!
Hello, Guiltless Goodies tribe.
My name is Grace McGuire from @nourishwithwholefood on Instagram. I am so thrilled to be here to share a little about me and why Guiltless Goodies is our choice to satisfy our sweet tooth. I am a mom to two adorable, energetic, full of life boys. A Holistic Nutritionist to be (I am attending The Institute of Integrative Nutrition), who's passion for whole foods started 10+ years back when my sister needed a kidney (she was born with vesicoureteral reflux and had 2 failed kidney transplants) and she needed to see if her siblings were a match. I studied nutrition on my own and did quite a bit of research to prepare my body, mind, and spirit for this journey. I fell in love with all things whole foods and became obsessed with wheat grass and its beneficial enzymes and amino acids. In my late twenties, I was diagnosed with adult anxiety, ADHD and soon after with celiac. Therefore, I love Guiltless Goodies. I finally found products that are not only gluten free, they're delicious.
The Super Seed Flour is the perfect base for cookies, donuts, pancakes, and loaves of delicious bread. When I first saw the ingredients, I couldn’t believe it, and well, I had to drive to Austin, TX to check this bakery out. I am very conscientious of what I feed my family and just like you, I want the best quality food as possible.
I thought I could break down two of my favorite ingredients used in the Guiltless Superfood Organic 7 Seed Flour that I'm digging and highly recommend. Chia seeds, cultivated by the ancient Aztecs are set to be rich in Omega 3 fatty acids ( in ALA form), which frankly our society doesn't get enough of and is known to be an anti-inflammatory food. Another ingredient that is also rich in Omega 3 fatty acid and contains Omega 6 fatty acids (in LA form) is flax seed, which Guiltless Goodies also uses in their Super Seed flour. Why are certain fatty acids beneficial? They help optimize metabolic rate, energy production and of course oxygen utilization. These EFAs are helpful at maintaining healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
If you haven't given Guiltless Goodies a try, I highly recommend you do. You can't go wrong with any of the products they offer. My boys love the cookies and highly recommend the donuts. Speaking of donuts, for my birthday I had to celebrate with the cake donuts and added a drizzle of spirulina sauce that I hope you make.
Even though I didn't donate my kidney to my sister, I am grateful for the time I spent researching, healing myself and mentoring my sister through her pre/post-transplant journey. I am also thankful for the family that was able to donate and selflessly gave my sister a life away from the constant dialysis machine which kept her alive for so many years. I would love for you to follow me along on Instagram or on my blog at www.nourishwithwholefood.
